Trouble In Time marks a first for husband and wife collaborators, award-winning up and coming Seattle based singer/songwriter Tekla Waterfield (Listen Up! Women in Music award recipient, Jack Straw Cultural Center recording artist, Doe Bay Festival Artist in Resident, music video for song, Nice Try, selected by Seattle International Film Festival to premiere at Bumbershoot 2019, song placement for song, Rock and Roll Man in award-winning indie film, Dakota) and multi-instrumentalist and producer, Jeff Fielder (internationally touring guitarist for Mark Lanegan, Amy Ray, Indigo Girls) .

Their two aesthetics have found maturity, meshing together to produce sensual, ephemeral songs nestled in lush beds of laid-back and stripped down grooves. A cohesive interplay runs between Waterfield’s soft, dreamy vocals as in, “Burden of Fear”, and Fielder’s signature and piercing guitar tones, evoking primal, animalistic imagery of whales or birds as in, “Better Days”. Most of the album’s nine songs were written in 2020, in response to the heavy and anxiety-filled events taking place around the world such as, “Let There Be” (“let us join hands/let us witness”), written as a message of hope to 2020’s graduating seniors, and protest song, “No Justice, No Peace”, (“human human/when will you see/until we are equal/we’ll never be free”). Despite the heavy subject matter, there is a resounding takeaway of hope for a brighter tomorrow in this collection of beautiful and haunting songs.
